Rome
Rome is the Italian capital and the city with the most concentration of historical and architectural buildings in the world. It's the only city in the world with an internal State: Vatican City, heart of the Christian religion. Some of the most famous building in Rome are the Colosseum, ancient Rome’s largest amphitheatre, which, from 2007, is listed as one of the seven wonders of the modern world (the only one in Europe); the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the Trevi fountain (don't forget to throw your coin giving the back at the fountain!) and a lot more. Apart from the famous buildings, here are some insider tips!
The illusion of Sant'Ignazio dome is a church built in 1626 which initially was a university capel. It has a peculiarity that every tourist misses: the dome it's not a real dome. Due to lack of money to finish it, it was never completed and was painted a trompe-l'oeil. If you pay attention looking at it, you will notice that it is flat and the dome is just an illusion!!
Pincio's water clock is a clock that functions with water. It was invented in 1867 and is now situated in the park of the Orologio del Pincio street in Rome. The water that activates it comes from the fountain under the clock.
La Villetta restaurant is a great insider tip! You won't know it if you are a tourist. The place is in Via della Stazione Tuscolana and offers typical food from Rome. It has an open area for the warm nights - beautiful if you want to taste a good Amatriciana with a glass of wine in one of the best cities of the world.
L'osteria restaurant is situated in Ponte Milvio and a very nice place with affordable prices. Taste the typical pasta cacio e pepe here! The restaurant organizes special nights with different menus.
